airbnb - BE VERY CAREFULL

Be very careful when looking at properties on this site, I was merely browsing there website for accommodation for a holiday and I was sending enquiries to see if properties are available, only to notice once you enquire on a property and that property is available, the payment immediately goes of your bank account. My banking details was already with airbnb because I used them before and therefore the payment just went through on more than 1 property. I notified the host immediately that I will not be taking the property and asked about my refund, but she did not answer me once I told her I will not be taking the place. I check on the website and cancelled the so called booking and now it will take up to 15 days for the money to reflect in my account. Just over R12 000 went of on my bank account for the one property and now I am being refunded R 5 274.00. I made enquiry on Sat 13 Sept 2025 , money from my account was taken on 14 Sept 2025 . Once I noticed what happened I notify the host on Monday 15 Sept 2025, and now I am getting less than half of what was taken from my account. How is this possible??????
