Empty promises and let downs with ATO
We had a very disappointing experience with ATO. I won a prize trip to the Maldives through ATO. After much excitement and planning, my partner and I decided on dates for the trip, paid our deposit for an upgrade to All-inclusive, and started the planning and excitement for our vacation. We both submitted leave with our companies, and were about to book our connecting flights from Cape Town to Johannesburg. This was about 6 weeks before the decided upon date, when we got a call stating that the flights for the entire month of our supposed travel, had been cancelled. We then selected new dates for the trip, and again, made arrangements at work so that we could take the trip. With a few weeks of absolutely no feedback or communication from ATO, I decided to check in that all was in order, I was then told that our dates were in fact, no longer available. We were now presented with a very limited selection of dates to chose from. So once again, we decided on dates, had to cancel prior commitments (including important work events) in order to fit in with ATO's dates. After over a month of silence yet again, and only about a month before our supposed travel dates, we were informed our dates had YET AGAIN been changed, this time giving us only 1 option of alternate dates (even sooner than our proposed date and in the middle of holiday season where anyone would have already had prior commitments. When we asked why this was the case, our consultant couldn't give us an answer. After all this trouble, changing dates, letting work commitments down and messing around our family with commitments during the holiday season, we decided to give up, and not take our trip after all. We were not offered any form of consolation. I certainly would not recommend using ATO to anyone!
