AIG non payment for hospital plan

I was admitted to st Augustine hospital in November 2020 by my neurosurgeon for a battery of tests. I have been for two spinal fusions and am still in extreme pain. I was also attended to by a neurologist who decided that I was too high risk for another procedure and to postpone and further surgery for as long as we could. There is evidence of more damage to my spine hence the constant pain and numbness I experience. They decided to settle on a spinal block which my medical aid didn't approve immediately due to me already having had a ct scan for the year, but which was approved a few days after my discharge. The problem iam having with aig is that they are being exceptionally difficult. They want a letter from the doctors to explain why I was admitted. Firstly a new appointment with either one of these specialist is going to cost me R1600. A letter of explanation will be a further R1000. This doesn't make sense to me. I was admitted for 2days the money that I supposed to get won't even cover the cost. Even though I am unwell I have gone to every extent to submit my mri, my lab, reports, ecg reports and hospital accounts. I honestly don't think that this is fair. We are currently experiencing a pandemic. Which human being with underlying comorbidities would want to risk staying in hospital. I went in with the intention of finding a solution and was prepared for another surgery, only for the doctors to say wait till I am stronger and my diabetes is under control. Yet I feel like AIG is treating me like a con. My mri cant lie. They looking for reasons to not make payments. When my wife took the policy years ago she was told that payment will happened as soon as proof of hospitalization was provided. I have had a run around from them previously as well but this is absolutely ridiculous. It actually feels like a **** to me and is the last thing you need when you dealing with the stress of illness. I strongly advise against using AIG as you will end up being treated like a villain by them. Clearly looking for every way to avoid payment. And to take advantage of innocent people who pay the installments yet looking for every loophole to not deliver on what was promised. Yet another shining example of service delivery i in our country. People please think twice before you get fooled like me.
