Stole my deposit

I rented a room in a student house managed by Agapanthus rentals. Despite the lease saying nothing of the sort, the agent claims that my deposit is forfeit because I failed to give them enough notice before leaving. 3 Weeks notice on a one-month stay is apparently not enough. Also, I got this news only after politely hounding them for the money for 2 weeks (law states it must be returned within one week.)

What's more, the agent now completely ignores my communications. She has failed to provide proof that my deposit is being held in an interest-bearing account, and won't answer my e-mails. All I've gotten from her for the last 2 weeks is 3 paragraphs from her lawyer and her comment "this should be self-explanatory."

Don't get fooled by this racket. I'm taking them to court for my deposit (it's a lot of money!), and hopefully no one falls for this in the future.

Stay away from Agapanthus Accommodation, Michele Milne and Odette Leach, if you want to save yourself some trouble.
