Unsafe route taken by Afrox LPG Tankers

The Afrox tankers collecting LPG from the Saldanha port area need to change their route travelling to and from the storage tanks. They drive along the R27 from Melkbos and then turn into Langebaan along Oostewal Road. They then turn left towards Mykonos/Saldanha. Problems associated with this: 1 Unnecessary HGV traffic into residential areas 2 Trucks stop at the Laguna Mall in Langebaan (this weekend there was even a truck inside the Mall parking area) 3 Full trucks return along the same route (in close proximity to two high schools in Langebaan). The risk of an explosion may be small, but why incur any risk when it is not necessary (most dangerous location is by the one school as it is a crossroad, with cars trying to get out of the school entrance) 4 Risk of traffic accidents driving along the R27 due to it only being one lane each way (and the trucks cause long tail backs of vehicles behind them). 5 Unitrans trucks use the specially upgraded route from Saldanha over the R27 to the N7. This route has very little traffic, very few residential areas or schools, and the N7 is double lane all the way to Cape Town.
