Afrox missing out on a potential lucrative deal because of poor sales personnel

I went to Afrox head office in Sandton on 16 November 2023 to enquire about opening an account for the purchase of +/- 10 000 units of LPG Gas cylinders (9kg). I was then assisted by a lady called Mpho and a gentlemen called Tahan who then made a zoom call meeting to Derel Weideman whom they said was an inland regional sales manager. We exchanged contact details with Derel and it was agreed that he would send me an email with an offer and also help me setting up the account. On Monday the 20th I went to Afrox Germiston branch where Derel operates from, after he had not sent me the email as promised. Unfortunately he was out of office and asked the reception lady to tell me to send him an email to which I did with no response.

I then called the customer care number for Afrox to get another person who could assist me and I was given a number for Leon Hay whom they said was a costal regional sales manager. I called Leon and he said I must send him an email for my request to which I did and with no response too.

Out of frustration and panicking I then called the Afrox Port Shepstone branch as this was the nearest branch for the project I need to do. The phone was handed over to a gentlemen called Gewaine Fourie whom they said was the regional sales manager. I explained to Gewaine my request, to my surprise and excitement Gewaine told me that he knows about the project I came to Afrox for and also told me that he actually supp**** the previous project. Gewaine promised me that he would send me an offer and thereafter I could proceed with opening the account upon my exceptence of the offer.

Days went pass and Gewaine didn't send the offer as promised, I then called him a number of times some times he did not even take my calls. On the 29th of December I sent him a WhatsApp to which he responded on the following morning with an apology and also promised that he would send an offer on that very same morning, and it happened again, Gewaine never send the offer. I sent him another WhatsApp on Friday the 5th of January to which up until this day he never responded.

On Monday the 8th of January 2024, I went back to Afrox head office in Sandton to try and see if I could meet the manager of these sales guys all of them particularly Gewaine and report this incompetence/ignorance unfortunately I could not be assisted and instead I was given a number of a Durban sales person called Kevin Moodley. I called Kevin and narrated my frustrating story to him and he promised to call Gewaine whom he said is the right person to send me the offer.

Today as I am writing this review, I first called Kevin checking with him if he did speak with Gewaine to which he said yes he did and Gewaine told him he had sent me the offer. I then called Gewaine and he did what he does best and ignored my call.

I am bringing this to this platform so that people know what kind of organisation Afrox is, I mean +/- 10 000 units of LPG Gas Cylinders in three months is not a small transaction for them to treat me the way they did.
