Disgusting manners and health standard by management at Afros Chicken Cornubia
I had the misfortune of choosing Afros Chicken as the eating experience for the weekend. My dietician had made mention of this restaurant in passing as she spoke of the different health options. I googled the menu and felt very re-assured about their "green agenda"and social responsibility stand. Dragging my wife and three kids, we stopped by the Cornubia branch. The simplicity and curiosity of the concept was mildly entertaining only to the point where we were pointed to a sign saying that there are no straws given out with the cold drinks. The tops of the cans did not look clean enough to drink off and were charged at an astronomical R15 a can. The juices were R18 each. We wiped the cans and swallowed our own life time of quality standards and right of choice by drinking straight off the cans. Eating off enamel plates was as easy as it could get so why not enjoy a meal as nature intended I thought. Then came the point when the manager and another gentleman arrived out of the kitchen. Shoddily dressed in grey shorts, unshaven and casual, I thought, well this must be in keeping with the impromptu style and menu (after all, here chips was spelt tjips, the skin was kept on the potato, people ate off enamel plates) The real DISGUSTING and SURREAL point came when the manager hung around behind the counter and proceeded to pick his nose and roll his findings between his fingers. To add insult to injury, he did this all over again with his other nostril and compared his two fingers. He did not even care that we, his customers, were seated a meter away from him. Now before vomiting in my own throat after witnessing this lewd act, he proceeded back and forth between the kitchen and front of shop multiple times still merrily feeling up his nose. I have never witnessed something so disgusting in my life. It must be that Afro's has hired a mad man who is trying to destroy their brand else they have no quality standards attached to their product and do not have any business taking a name synonymous to a sector of the population they are attempting to deliberately degrade by dramatising dirty acts in front of patrons. I wished I had a camera to record this villain. On our exit, I asked the cashier if that was the owner. I was told that it was the manager and his name was Daniel Claasen, with a "C". Afro's, I can's say that I will be returning to eat at your soon but I pray for your success without saboteurs like this man.
