Poor After-service

Initial Impression: My initial impression of Afriskuld was positive. The service was provided in my native language, and everyone was eager to assist me to the best of their ability. The signup process was quick and seemed straightforward. However, my experience took a sharp turn for the worse once the process was complete and my main point of contact shifted to Finfix, which, from what I understand, underwrites Afriskuld.

The Issue: A few months into the process, my partner accidentally transferred funds to an old account of mine. I expected the transfer to bounce or be rejected, as the account was supposed to be closed. To my surprise, the account was still active and had been accruing fees and interest for several months. Had it not been for this mistake, the account could have racked up thousands of rands in debt.

When I brought this to Finfix’s attention, they initially acknowledged that such incidents had occurred before and assured me they would handle it. However, I was later informed that the account was not included in my application and that it was my responsibility to have ensured its closure.

Resolution Attempts: After numerous calls and emails, Finfix eventually admitted that they had failed to inform me that the account, originally an overdraft and cheque account, had been split. The overdraft portion was converted into a loan, but the cheque account remained active. They provided call recordings as evidence that I had been instructed to close the account. Upon reviewing the recordings, it became clear that this was not the case.

At no point did Finfix take responsibility for the oversight. Instead, they consistently shifted blame onto the bank and me.

Final Thoughts: Unfortunately, I am now too far into the process to switch to a different provider, as confirmed by another service provider I consulted. If you are considering Afriskuld, be aware that they seem to prioritize profit over customer care. You will need to double or even triple-check every detail to avoid unpleasant surprises.

I also attempted to recover the funds lost due to their negligence, but they have been evasive and unresponsive to my queries.

Reviewer Update
Just adding onto this, it has been nearly a month since my last correspondence from Afriskuld/Finfix, where they gave me the same answer as before, I am happy to share this with the world if it comes to it.
They have gone putting the blame on me, to openly taking responsibility for the mistake, after I presented them with the facts and requesting call recordings, to now putting the blame back on me and giving me vague responses with no deadlines or ETAs of any kind, I really wish this gets resolved or I'm changing this down to a 1-star review.
