Kicked Out - ****** Afriski

Long weekend of 16 of June 2017. I and my family from Kwazululu had a planned vacation to Afriski , Lesotho. Everything was organised and through Heather and the management at the Afriski Resort in. The first Group arrived on the 15th June (Thursday) at 9pm and the second group arrived at 2am Friday morning. We were so frustrated and scared as the drive in Lesotho up the mountains was scary and looked deadly. As we all arrived we would hug and be happy that we made it scariest part was we could not reach each other telephonically as we had crossed the border. The last group made it at 4am. They didn't make it through to the bordergate. With all the frustration we stayed awake waiting and finally they also joined us. We were so excited/relieved, hugging and laughing. So we settled down and fell asleep after making that "noise" ("Oh you here OMG I cant believe it whooooo") "black people noise" they called it.

The following morning we woken up to find out we were the only blacks at the accommodation but it was all okay until one of the white guests there passed a remark and said "Oh looks like we have ******s here today". Another remark was made to my cousin whe he was asked "So when are you guys leaving? " my cousin answered jokingly we would be there for for a week. The white lady that opposite out cabin said "OH F&%K NO"!!!

I then immediately noticed the discomfort . A lady named Heather that works there as an agent came to us the same morning of our arrival while we were having breakfast and told us she had received noise complaints. All we did on that Friday was rejoice that our remaining group had arrived safely. We explained that and told her we would definitely apologize.

The white guests we were amongst were already passing remarks and looking at us funny. Not all of them but only those that I would say were ****** in such a way that they left before time of their holiday because they couldn't tolerate us "******s".

I immediately went to reception and told the staff that there is something fishy with the other backpackers I told them I was scared something would bad would happen because of the continuous provoking and ****** commentary.

The day went by and night came!

We went out and only came back for bed time 12am, we set at the chilling area with Heather and she was happy that the noise she had heard about on arrival day weren't there. As we sat with Heather, the manager, a guy from room 14 called her into his room . We decided to say goodnight to those we sat with and went to bed. As we were about to sleep and chatting about how great the day had been there was violent knock at the door. Heather, the manager and 5 white guys stood outside the door and told us to "Shut the hell up". No radio was played, no noise nor screaming just chatting as we were dozing oft. My brothee just went off his head and asked them what noise was being made. Heather said "Boy Shut up!" she was up close to his face and my brother rep**** " or What?"

One of the big white guys wanted to now fight my brother. A lot of screaming shouting and swearing happened, which had now woken up other guests that were asleep. This was provoked by these guys. We were so upset that we all went to bed not talking to each other as we were being accused of something we didn't do. Or should I say from the exaggerated "event" .

The next morning (Saturday). A team of management (both male and female) came with security guards and said they're giving us 30 minutes to leave premises because we made noise. Our holiday was not over and we were the only people getting kicked out! We were told if we don't leave they would call the cops. We refused and said they can call the cops because we hadn't done anything wrong. Eventually we agreed to just leave as long as they refunded our money so we can book elsewhere, because we realised we could no longer stay at a place with such hate and to make matters worse, the drive back home was 10 hours for some family members. We had planned to go skiing that day and celebrating a birthday. All that never happened. We were kicked out at the resort like dogs and had to drive hours back home.

The question is - If we had done so wrong why didn't the cops come cause cops were "called" 5 hours before our departure, as we were still refusing to leave? Instead they wanted us gone in such so badlt that they agreed to give us a refund. We had no option but to leave especially after been given that refund.

We never repeat places when we go out on vacation but this is to put it out there for the world to know the kind of treatment we received.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had and I hope this never happens to any other group that visits Afriski. We are not being vengeful we just want to alert people of what happens in places like these.

Some time after we had left I received email communication from the manager apologizing for how we had been treated. I think this was a bluff why didn't they call other guests there and ask the about the incident before we got chucked out.

I have video recordings of the entire ordeal and copies of email communication unfortunately I cannot share the links here.
