I would like to begin by expressing my appreciation for the fantastic performance at the Afrikaans is Groot show on 10 November 2024. The show itself was absolutely excellent, and it was clear a great deal of effort went into delivering a high-quality experience for the audience.

However, I have some serious concerns regarding the accessibility and pricing during the event that I feel need immediate attention.

Firstly, it was concerning to see that the escalators and lifts at Sun Arena were out of order, particularly when considering the impact this has on elderly attendees. Many patrons, including those who may have limited mobility, rely on these amenities to navigate the venue comfortably. I’m sure you would agree that it’s essential to take these needs into account when organizing such large events. The failure to address this issue left many people, including seniors, struggling to exit the building This is something that should be addressed with urgency.

Secondly, I am troubled by the pricing of refreshments during the event. Many attendees, especially those who travel long distances and save for months to attend these shows, find it incredibly frustrating to be charged exorbitant prices for basic food and drinks. While I understand the need to cover operational costs, the current pricing feels unreasonable and detracts from what should be a positive experience.

As an attendee who supports these events, I believe it’s crucial that both the accessibility of the venue and the affordability of refreshments be seriously reconsidered. Both issues have a significant impact on the enjoyment and overall experience of the event, and I urge you to take immediate action to address them for future shows.
