Pure disregard to a 17 years old’s basic human rights

I never thought I would have to post something like this, but I can no longer stay silent.

After losing my job, I communicated my situation honestly and transparently before things escalated. Instead of compassion or lawful process, my son’s belongings were withheld.

We approached the Rental Housing Tribunal, and a directive was issued for the release of his property. When we finally collected what was returned, we discovered that important valuables were missing/unreturned, including his PlayStation, games, TV, and other personal items.

For weeks, we have been told they are “checking the storerooms,” yet there has been no resolution, no accountability, and now no response.

What hurts the most is not only the financial loss, but the complete disregard for human dignity, especially when a young person’s belongings and daily essentials are involved.

This is not just about property. It is about being ignored, disrespected, and treated as though our rights do not matter because we fell on hard times.

I am sharing this because silence protects the wrong people.

All we want is: the return of what belongs to my son, or accountability for what is missing.
