Mislead for my rent to be increased

I initially wanted to move to a different building due to financial reasons, poor soundproofing, and a noisy neighbour. I made these concerns known to management.

When I visited The Landmark office, I was advised that instead of moving to another building, I could simply transfer to a different unit because noise was one of the reasons for my request. I was specifically told that my rent would remain the same and that I would only need to pay an administration fee. Since I only had a few months remaining on my lease, I agreed to the transfer.

Two months later, I was shocked to find that my rent had increased by R900. I was told the increase was because the new unit is north-facing even thought it had similar layout, despite my previous unit being larger and, in my opinion, more functional.

I sent emails requesting clarification, but they were ignored. I then contacted their WhatsApp number and was advised to move units again, even though I only had two months left on my lease. Since then, I have received no meaningful resolution and am still expected to pay the additional R900.

My experience has been frustrating due to the lack of communication and the apparent contradiction between what I was told before the transfer and what was later implemented. Choose africrest at your own risk, they sell your lifestyle dreams, but you will pay for them.
