Arabella Spa and Hotel - not as nice as it seems

We visited the Arabella Hotel and spa on the 14th and 15th of August and wrote a complaint letter to the hotel manager. <br> <br> Our special 40th birthday weekend was ruined and we feel that the hotel did not care about our bad experience.<br> <br> We called in advance to notify the hotel that we were celebrating a 40th birthday. Both nights after dinner our daughter's sleeper couch was not made up and we had to sit around with housekeeping in and out of the room. We called for her bed to be made prior to dinner.<br> <br> Saturday, while being out of our room for three hours, her bed was not made up and when we returned to our room, we had nowhere to sit.<br> <br> We could not go whale watching due to bad weather so we called the spa for some treatments just to be told 'on weekends they are usually very busy and that we should have pre-booked some spa treatments'.<br> <br> We've recently stayed at the Protea Hotel Marine in Port Elizabeth and had a lot more pleasant service there. It's a shame to pay for something and then not get the service.<br> <br> We tried to sort this out nicely with the hotel manager. The only response we got is a spa voucher for if we are in the area again or a please visit our hotel again.
