African Lodge of Shame (not pride): Irene Country Lodge - Nellmapius Drive, Centurion, Gauteng.

<p>Venue - African Pride irene Country Lodge - Nellmapius Drive, Centurion, Gauteng.</p> <p> </p> <p>On Saturday 11 March 2017 we had a late lunch in celebration of my grandmother's milestone birthday. The venue was booked by us well in advance and we arrvied on time.</p> <p> </p> <p>Firstly, here was no table available! The staff scrambled to put one together for us and it was a terrible sight. Once the table was placed somewhere in the middle of the outside area we sat down. There were no glasses. cutlery or crockery ready to serve our party of 10 people.</p> <p>We brought a cake with us (as you do when celebrating a birthday) so we obviously needed a cake stand. What we were offered was a makeshift pathetic excuse for a cake stand, which we had to assemble ourselves because the waiter placed it on the far end of the table and then vanished! </p> <p> </p> <p>We conitnued to wait in disbelief at this appaling treatment. </p> <p> </p> <p>Finally, half an hour later the waiter took our drinks orders but got some of them wrong anyway...</p> <p> </p> <p>We ordered food and were finally sevred with our meal more than one hour after we sat down. It was unreal.</p> <p> </p> <p>The service was so unbearalabe that we had to address the manager - shockingly she admitted that she gave our table away to other patrons who happend to be Afrikaans speaking (just for interst's sake). This rendered me livid, but I kept my composure so as not to mar the festivities of the day. Said manger apologised profusely and asked if there is anything she can do to make up for the mess she subjected us to (my own words).It was too late to fix anything so we opted to end our evening and leave as soon as possible. </p> <p>Perhaps I missed an opportunity but if that woman knew anything at all about service at the very least the lodge should have offered a complimentary meal / accommodation on our next visit. Having failed to do that or something similar, they've earned themelves this review.</p> <p> </p> <p>African (Shame) Lodge Irene is one place I am never going to recommend to friends and family.</p>
