****** goods and unreasonable extra charges/costs

The experience began positively with friendly service from Lorraine. Their quote was one of the cheapest we received, although we didn't foresee the issues that would arise. The problems started when it came time to deliver our goods. We received an additional invoice for nearly R7000. Initially, I provided my inventory list and asked what would happen if I missed something, given that quotes are based on what you can think of (1000 square feet). Lorraine assured me it was fine as long as the major items were listed, and we had 1000 square feet plus some extra space for any excess. She also mentioned that we could keep items in drawers, which I did, but only light items like bedding, underwear etc. When the truck arrived, the driver, whom we assumed was the foreman, asked for additional bags to empty the drawers. Despite explaining that we were told items could stay in the drawers, he insisted they be removed. They loaded everything, and towards the end, my husband asked if we were still within our limits, to which the driver responded ‘Yes’. Consequently, we added extra items not on the inventory list, including braai stands and other items my husband gave to the driver which we no longer use. The next day, we received an additional invoice for nearly R7000 because we exceeded our limit (1400 square feet). They demanded payment before delivering our goods. Reluctantly, we paid while disputing the charge. Upon arriving at our new home, we discovered missing and opened boxes, with items ******. When we spoke to the owner, Hein, he was unprofessional, arrogant, and rude, suggesting we report the theft to the police (which we did) and showing no remorse. Do not use this company or any of their affiliates (H&M Removals and Simply Store). Their employees *****, are poorly trained, and provide incorrect information, leaving clients to bear the costs or risk having their furniture withheld.
