Unsympathetic Banks

Today I was called by African Bank as to why my debit order had not gone off ... I tell them that it is because I am adversely affected by Covid 19... On 22 May my company told us that we would have a drastic salary cut. My Salary was R26500.00... It is now R12220.36 before allowances and deductions ... How is the bank going to stop a debit order from being processed in 8 days? ... I tried to initiate a payment break, which as yet has not yet been processed. Tell me now what money must I use to pay the installment without falling into arrears. They wanted me to commit to a reduced installment, which cannot be done without adversely affecting my already adversely affected lifestyle. My bank, FNB, does not support my non- payment of debit orders at this time, and charge me for every debit order that does not get paid, even though they claim to help people during Covid 19 with 3 months help. Maybe it is time that the Banks show sympathy to those who are sufferring with finances because of lack of trade under lockdown.

Anyone who has some common sense will see that when my work said drastic, they meant it.

Please, if you want to bank at these banks, do not. Rather switch to another bank who cares about financial difficulties based on Covid 19.
