UNAUTHORIZED DEBIT ORDER

I have reported to African Bank several times that over 8 employees have been retrenched at our company but to date they still debit my account. I have just had a chat with a call centre agent whom I told that they need to cancel these debit orders as it is my right as a consumer to choose which payment method I prefer. They are still processing debit orders on my account whereas there isn't any money. I made an agreement that when UIF pays off I will be making all future payments manually and the call centre agent had the nerve to tell me that THEY CAN'T CANCEL THE DEBIT ORDER. Is this even allowed? To be debiting accounts of unemployed clients? They won't even meet me half way in agreeing on the amount I can be able to pay although until I find employment. This is ridiculous and I feel as though they are a heartless institution that only cares about money and not their clients! I don't know how many emails I've sent now with my retrenchment letters etc. with still no one discussing reasonable payment options when you've lost a job. I keep being told to resend the letters. I'm tired of this unprofessional behavior!
