Stay away from African Bank if you're self-employed

Recently I app**** for a loan with African Bank. I app**** online and completed all the necessary information, including that I am self-employed.

I uploaded all documents that I could, except "Payslip/Salary advice" as naturally, I don't have these being self-employed.

I called the customer service line and explained that I am self-employed and was told that I should upload a bank letter confirming my account to proceed with the application.

When I emailed through the bank letter, I received a response with no signature or consultant name stating but paraphrasing "We do not offer credit to the self-employed." I was irate. I responded to the email requesting escalation to a manager as from the online application process to speaking to a consultant, no one had made mention of this.

To date, no one has rep**** to me, yet I receive daily emails and SMS messages to remind me to upload my payslip. There is no way to unsubscribe from these notifications.

African Bank, your service is pathetic. Please leave me alone.
