Retrechment policy declined for a retrenched person!!

I currently have a retrenchment policy in place with African Bank for my Credit Card. I was retrenched in May 2019 . I did not activate the policy immediately as i thought i might find a job. Until now i have not find a job and is unemployed. I can no longer afford to pay the instalment on my credit card or the instalment on this policy , but African Bank keep on deducting the monthly instalment from my account , which leaves my in trouble later in the month. I tried to activate my retrenchment policy with them, they refuse to activate this policy. Why did i take out a retrenchment policy??? what has happend or is happening to all my money that i paid on this policy , and why is it not acctivated for the purpose i took it out for.? i dont want my name to be blacklisted, and so their payments are still going through my account, but what must i still do to get this thing activated?????? I am UNEMPLOYED.
