Promises not kept

I was contacted by AFRICAN BANK in June 2023 and offered a settlement on my credit card. On 21 July 2023 I paid the settlement of R4822.00 and was promised a "paid up" letter. In August 2023 I received my credit report and saw on the report that my African Bank credit card was still reflecting an outstanding balance. I called AFRICAN BANK and was informed that they would send me a paid up letter. In September 2023 my credit record still reflects that I owe African Bank money. I called African Bank today, 2 October 2023, the collections department and was informed that I need to contact the attorneys??? who I never worked with to have this matter resolved and ask the attorneys for the paid up letter. I then also have to send them the proof of payment to prove that this account was settled. Why be offered a settlement, the settlement paid before due date and then the account is transferred to the attorneys. Why must I pay more fees to make contact with the attorneys if arrangements were made by AFRICAN BANK? I refuse to contact the attorneys on MY COST and request a proof of payment on MY cost if AFRICAN BANK received the payment to them and not the attorneys. Please just send my paid up letter and close this account so that NOTHING reflects on the credit buro.
