Prescribed debt.

Hi, I had an account with African Bank about 7 years ago,account was paid monthly as I had a garnishee order. Two months ago, i received a call from a tracer, stating that I owe African Bank, and I made a payment in June 2018.Knowing, that I did NOT make payment, I went to branch for statement, and on there reflects a payment of R1???Which THEY added to my account to make it active again. According to me this is prescribed debt, as this was debt from 7 years ago?? How the hell can they do this?? NO ONE contacted me for the last few years, and all of a sudden I am being traced by some debt collecting company. And this is listed on my record.There is no email address that I can send my complain to as I have been calling the 0861 number, but you hold on for ages??I need my name to be cleared as I will definitely take this up with the Ombudsman.
