Penny for my lies

In the week of the 13th May 2016 I went to African Bank for a loan. I got the loan which came in the form of cash, credit card and laptop. I got the cash and credit card (this was at the Parow (Cape Town) branch)). However, I did not receive the laptop as promised. I waited for 3 weeks before following up on this.

I started calling to follow up on the laptop (which I was supposed to get in 4 days of the contract). The first person I spoke to said I would get an SMS within 48 hours of the call. I did not get that sms. I called again and was told that the matter was "escalated" and its urgency specified. I believed that. I called for the third time and got the same information.

So I decided to call once again, this time I asked the agent if it was possible for me to cancel the laptop because it had been a month waiting. The nice gentleman (Siphiwe Maseko) told me that it is possible to cancel the laptop and get cash instead and I requested that it be done. This was lastweek Wednesday. He said I would get an SMS with the call info. I did not get that SMS.

I called again on Thursday to ask about the SMS and Siphiwe said "it must be a problem on your side" to which I asked "why is it only a problem with African Bank?". He said I will get the cash within 48hrs because it was "escalated". I said I can't wait for an SMS that will not come, because I had heard that before. After speaking to his senior (Shawn Adams), he told me that Mr Adams said he would get back to me himself on the issue. This gave me a bit of confidence.

Today is Tuesday (2016-07-11) and I called again to follow up. I was assisted by a lady who listened to the story above and told me she would confirm with Mr Adams. After a long wait, she told me that "Mr Adams says that he is still waiting on a reply from Digital Planet." I told her that I did not understand why I had to wait for a response from Digital Planet even though I did not sign a contract with them. I further explained why I felt it was none of my business and that I should get the cash and then African Bank sort out their issues with Digital Planet. She got angry at this point and repeated Mr Adams' message in an angry tone. At this point I said bye and she said "bye".

Here's my problem: I'm paying a monthly agreed fee with interest. The amount of money he laptop was included in the amount I am paying now. Besides the lies and my airtime going to waste, I feel like they are *****ing from me. This is because I'm paying for something that's not in my possession.
