Never ending loan

I took a loan in 2012 with African back. I was not told there are two loans for credit card and loan.I defaulted and in 2018 I was contacted by "collections company" to advise that I am I defaulted. I contacted them to ask how much was my debt and they gave me the amount and a settlement which I paid. After I asked for a settlement letter they assured me that I did not owe them anything but to my surprise in March'19 I was contacted by the call centre African Bank that I owe them (R14000+- ). I asked them how that is when I was told it's for the loan when I requested for an email address to forward them the settlement I had received but they keep giving me the incorrect email address.
