Loan not reducing !

My Loan amount with African Bank is R35 707 and the loan was taken out on the 22/10/2021 5 months later it’s R34 240 (keeping in mind that there is a monthly debit order for an amount of R1 273 ) so after 5 months how is it possible that I only paid R1467.00 where the debit orders went off from November 2021 shouldn’t my balance be around R29 342 ? A statement was requested and still no change ! I cannot answer phone during the day ! Please can someone communicate with me via email
