Loan not decreasing

I took a loan out with African Bank on the 22/10/2021 for an amount of R35 707.50 , however I got a statement on the 30/07/2022 it’s shows the outstanding balance it R32 425.01 which since for the past 9 months I only paid R3 282.49 where there is a debit order that goes of my account for R1 273.84 every month . I stand to be corrected but my balance should be R24 242.94 what’s happening am I being ****** by African bank ?
