interest

hi had a credit card with African bank and went under debt review witch I totally regret, I have been paying African bank monthly for the credit card but the card always stays in arrears. they wrote off some interest last year as I explained how can I owe R23000.00 odd on a R6000.00 credit card, I understand the interest but surely there is some way to get this settled, I have tried to speak to the call centre agents all they can say is pay extra, I have paid African bank most probably that card 4 x over and still am paying, im very unhappy about this as no one is willing to help me from African bank side ,
