Insurance Claim Unfairly Declined
Good day,
I wish to escalate my complaint to your department as I believe my matter has been unfairly dealt with.
I have since lodged a claim for the insurance on the basis that I am without employment.
When I iniated my claim I explained I was retrenched in December 2021 and immediately obtained alternative employment through contract work, which meant as of January 2022 I was self employed.
I have since maintained payments on my credit card and personal loan until May 2022.
As a result my contract was terminated on 28 June 2022, which as above stated I have openly shared this information with the bank and furnished all requested documents.
My claim has since been declined on the basis that at the time i was retrenched the credit agreement were not 90 days old, however I argue that I have proof that I had an alternative source of income and maintained payments.
Upon call to your offices today at around 08:08 I was assisted by a consultant within the credit life insurance claims department, Doreen, who advised that I was supposed to have notified the bank once I my employment status changed from being permanently employed to a company to being a contractor worker. However I asked where this is documented for client to see and she was also unable to provide this to me.
I wish to get further clarification on the reason my claim was declined and the above advised by the consultant.
