I have only banked with 2 bank African bank being one of them. I have to say of all the years I have had a credit card with this bank, which is five years ot a little over never had a bounced debit order their sevice towards me was beyond appauling. They do not even deserve a star. I got retrenched last year March and went to African bank around the month of April, May or June at Jabulani mall to find out how their insurance works and what percentage they pay in case of retrenchment or is it the full amount. The lady advised me that my insurance was up to date, I just needed to bring my ID and letter of retrenchment. My mom fell ill and was admitted into hospital I had to go home to Limpopo. During that time she passed. On the 27th of July 2021 I realized i had not submitted my documents I called African bank the lady that assissted me gave me the Insurance claims email adress and asked me to send through my retrenchment letter and copy of ID which I did. On the 24th the next day I got an email from a lady called Winnie who said my clain is being assesed and insurance will get back to me. This was the last of African bank. I have a trail of emails asking what the progress is. I still do not have a permanent job I am freelancing and still have repsected them enough not to bounce their debit order. I was still deducted this month on the 24. And they have been doing so ever since. I got one call from a lady when I sent an email to customer service as she was supposed to transfer me to insurance we got cut off. I am pretty sure she hung up because she also could not explain what was such the long delay. I have the card in my purse I do not even know the pin that is how long I have used that card totally appauling. I would npt advise anyone to have any relations with that bank.
