How not invest money with African Bank

How not to invest your money. Never have I had such a shocking experience as I did with African Bank yesterday.

My 93 year old father invested all his money which is a substantial sum at African Bank in fixed deposit. Approximately 18 months ago he discovered that he had lost his original investment document with the Terms, Conditions and interest rate. He went to the local Tokai branch to get a new copy printed only to find out that he could not gain access to his banking profile as their system would not accept his finger prints as due his age they had completely worn away and they could not override their biometrics system. This is utterly outrageous and frankly downright *******. If you go to any other bank and your fingerprints dont work, all you need is an ID and they override the system. NOT AT AFRICAN BANK! Under great duress, while my father was under going cancer treatment he was told to go to Home Affairs, get a new ID card to update his fingerprints which are just a smudge. They updated his details on the system but were still not able to give him a copy of the investment document which I am fairly certain was left at the bank at some point and no one called to advise him.

Recently he lost his ATM card which the investment interest is paid into. He needs this interest money to survive. Yesterday, I accompanied him to the Tokai branch to get a replacement ATM card. Their system would not read his fingerprints as the biometric update he had done18 months before had been taken off the system because they say the update of his finger prints only lasted a certain amount of time. I have never heard anything so ridiculous. Did they expect him at the age of 93 to re grow fingerprints? Because if this incident they were not able to give him a new ATM card. Now he cannot gain access to his money at all which he needs to survive.

He is now utterly traumatized as he cannot gain access to his banking profile or money. Its just beyond shocking.

I am now insisting that African Bank not only supply him with a new ATM card today and lift the Terms and Conditions around the investment term on this Fixed Deposit, without penalties, so he can invest his money with a bank that operates efficiently.

I am beyond furious that this has happened to my father and if they dont find a solution TODAY, I am taking this story to Carte Blanche and every media outlet I can find.
