Credit card LEGAL Status

I have a credit card with African bank. I was retrenched last year April. They paid out an amount which only 3 three months. They started debiting my account and cancelled my credit card. my status of the card says its with legal, I have not missed on payment on my card. When I wanted to get my card working they said I cant. its at legal. then someone from African bank told me if I pay my card for 6 months then I can renew my card. PLEASE HELP
