credit caRd debacle!

I app**** for a credit card last week Thursday it got approved I went into the branch with all the necessary documents I was asked to bring a few days later I get told my application has been rejected because maximum attempts to confirm employment had been reached and then I get a call from the branch consultant to send a letter from my employer to state I'm permanently employed and to again come into the branch for thumb prints,I get there and get told I have no offers available to me,can someone please give me clarity on this as I'm being send from pillar to post
