Bad investment policy

Why has African Bank suddenly introduced a tiered system interest rate on their fixed deposits? What this has probably done is exclude a large base of smaller investors, since these investors with less capital are unlikely to invest at the lower tiered rates. The main reason I went over to AB was because of their highly competitive flat interest rates, irrespective of the capital invested. The bank has now effectively shot themselves and their investors in the foot!!
