Bad debt on my name after 7years

Hi about 7years ago I lost my job n had a loan payment at African bank I noticed them of my problem then this year I took out a credit report n the loan with interest still shows I tried to call them n waited 1hour on the phone till my airtime went out..they should've prescribed my report from there system.. Or am I wrong because I tried to buy a car but was declined note I didn't hear from any of them for the past 6years
