Arrears

I have a loan with African bank, and its insured. In 2013 I went to maternity leave, I only found out on my pay day during my maternity leave that I won't be getting my salary during my leave. I immediately went to African bank to report the situation with supporting documents. And they told me not to worry they will take care of it. What I don't understand is why did they put me in arrears, why the insurance didn't pay for that three months because they are deducting the money for insurance. Unpaid maternity leave was beyond my control.
If the insurance won't pay for unforseen circumstances like that, then what is the use of insurance. I think African bank should cancel the insurance and deduct the loan amount only. Which I believe I have covered already. Because I didn't claim for insurance for the past few years, then cancel it. It's useless, if they still put you on arrears even if you were it was for a situation beyond my control. I didn't have salary for three months, you can imagine how frustrating it was having a newborn without a salary.
Then African bank put you in arrears on the other hand
