AFRICAN BANKS ARE ***** AND *******

I posted this on HelloPeter 2 months ago: I lost my job in 2020, and during the time was concerned about falling behind with my monthly financial commitments. I have a personal loan and credit card with African Bank and at the time called them to ask if they could provide me a pause on payment for 1 month, or if it was possible to delay the debit order date by a few weeks. They immediately offered me a payment break for 3 months which I gladly accepted. They paused payment for 3 months and then resumed thereafter with debiting me. Almost a year later, I received a call from their collections department advising me that I was in arrears for quite a substancial amount. What they failed to tell me is that the payment break amount would automatically accumulate as arrears and that interest would start building up on the arrears amount. I have asked them numerous times to prove to me where they had advised me adequately that taking a payment break would mean that I would go into arrears and that interest would accumulate. They just ignore my requests and hound me with collection calls. The interest accumulated is so high that I am afraid that this debt is going to spiral out of control plus it is negatively affecting my credit profile. To date, no one at African Bank has been willing to assist me and I feel that they apply irresponsible credit lending practices. I am writing a review on Hello Peter as a desperate cry for help attempt.

Till date: African Bank frantically contacted me to promise that they would investigate and would revert with an outcome and still to date, there has been no feedback. I continue to pay interest on the balance that I am not responsible for. AFRICAN BANK ARE *******
