African Bank *****ulently Opens Acc Without Consent ent

About 6 weeks ago my husband visited the African Bank branch at Green Acres in Port Elizabeth.

The aim of the visit was for them to verify that he does not have an account with them on a document which was required by his children's school when paying for school fee exemption. This had to be done at 4 other major banks too.

The lady that assisted him offered him an account which he declined as he is unemployed and he told her this.

A week later he started getting calls from African Bank. The one call wanted his personal details which he refused to give.

Next thing he starts getting messages with his new account number and that he should deposit money into the account.

He then decides to go back to the bank. The lady that helped him before was there and incredibly rude with him and trying to talk him down to keep quite and calm down. The more he wanted to show her the messages he was receiving she refused and said she's not a ****mers he also asked her to bring the account up and show him which she also refused to do.

He then told her he wants the account closed. Which she said will be done in 72hrs. He then got a message on his phone acknowledging the request to close account and an hour later a message to say that his enquiry had been successfully resolved.

This morning he gets a message again to say he can draw a statement on the account.

We have submitted all the above information to their national ***** dept and customer service. After I submitted all the messages sent by the bank to him the ***** dept asked for his ID and bank acc no which I did. Thereafter no feedback from them.

With all the reports of bank staff at many other banks getting into people's accounts how can we be sure that this is not the motivation for opening accounts in this fashion.

The most ironic is he goes there for verification that he does not have an account there which is then stamped and signed by the same person who then uses his details to open an account.

Should we open a case at the police? How do we get this resolved.

So after him going to the bank to try and sort this out and your ***** dept asking for his details you still expect him to make contact with you.

Why don't you make contact with him? You have all his details which were used to open the account in the first place.

All the messages sent by the bank to him were also copied to the ***** dept.

Please provide an email address for him to communicate with you so we can keep this in writing.
