African Bank not considerate to their clients and treat them as trash

Im not happy with African Bank. When i got into Arrears i owed R3400 now i want to settle they tell me that i have to pay R8800. This amount is more than the balance i owed at the time. I have been in countless contact with them trying to settle this and and do it today but i will not pay double what my balance was at the time. im not happy as i like them as a company but they are not considerate.

Why is it then that I still need to pay future costs (interests etc) and not just the capital amount along with costs up and until the settlement date? As per the National Credit Act Consumer’s or guarantor’s right to settle agreement: b) the unpaid interest charges and all other fees and charges payable by the consumer to the credit provider up to the settlement date; Early payments and crediting of payments 126. (1) At any time, without notice or penalty, a consumer may prepay any amount (2) A credit provider must accept any payment under a credit agreement when it is (3) A credit provider must credit each payment made under a credit agreement to the owed to a credit provider under a credit agreement. tendered, even if that is before the date on which the payment is due. 45 consumer as of the date of receipt of the payment, as follows: (a) Firstly, to satisfy any due or unpaid interest charges; (b) secondly, to satisfy any due or unpaid fees or charges; and (c) thirdly, to reduce the amount of the principal debt. Is this practice of African Bank in line with the National credit act and to which the OMBUD of banking agrees to/aware of?
Why am i forced to pay amount more than what i owed initially? Please respond im waiting.
