African Bank false adverti*****t
I would like to warn potential and current African Bank clients to not ever take a payment break on your loan account. Due to covid I was forced to take one month payment break in July 2020 on my installment, my telephone conversation with the sales consultant was recorded, and I asked numerous times if this break Wil have any effect on my installment, she insisted that this Wil only influence the length of the loan contract. I took out the loan in 2018, all of a sudden after my payment break was initiated in July 2020, my account shows that I am in arrears???? I received a sms, informing me that they will adjust my debit order with an extra amount to compensate for the "outstanding" amount owed. When I phoned them, the consultant informed me that the arrears were not due to the payment break, keep in mind that on my August 2020 statement the arrears is reflecting for the first time, prior to this I have never been behind on my payments. Apparently the day I took out my loan, it was more than 7 days before month end, and that my first installment should have been paid the same month! This was never communicated to me before at all... When I asked her why it is only showing arrears after 2 years, her reply was that the account details were probably not updated yet, so you are telling me, they only update the accounts every 2 years??? I still have about 4 years left on my loan, my account will most definitely be in arrears and I can promise you it will be accumulating interested. So please rather take out loans at other banks.....
