African bank failing
I have been an African Bank customer for 6 years. I am seriously doubting this bank as I am fed-up with their nonsense. I transferred R600 on 20/02/26 and there was a technical failure. However, the money still deducted. I then lodged a query, and the money was reversed within an hour. I then proceeded to make an instant payment again and it went through successfully, but it is not showing in my ABSA account. I contacted them again. and the conversation just goes back and forth between Absa and African bank. One blaming the next. African bank says that their "finance team" states that the money went through. ABSA states that it is African bank's issue and that they are just the receiver. The lady I spoke to at ABSA was extremely rude and condescending. I want my R600 back or I will be lodging a complaint with the banking ombudsman. Someone needs to trace this "missing money". I do not understand why it is so hard to take accountability. You cannot just say it went through and there is nothing to do.

PLS ADVISE AFRICAN BANK....
Dear Miss Gardner,
Thank you so much for bringing this matter to our attention. We truly appreciate your patience throughout this process.
We are writing to inform you that the investigation into your complaint has been completed, and we would like to provide you with our response to the matter.
On 20/02/2026, you made an instant payment of R600.00 from African Bank to Absa, but unfortunately, the money has not reflected in your Absa account. You have expressed frustration about being sent from pillar to post by both Absa and African Bank.
After a thorough investigation, we have determined that Absa Bank is unable to assist with tracing the funds since the payment was made from African Bank. We kindly advise you to direct this matter to African Bank for them to trace the funds on their side. They will provide you with feedback directly. There is a specific process in place that African Bank needs to follow. Their Missing Payments Department must trace the funds and communicate with Absa Bank via the BankServ system. African Bank is well aware of this process and should discuss the outcome with you directly.
We kindly request that you inform us if you are satisfied with the resolution of your case. If we do not receive a response from you by 24/02/2026 at 16:30, we will proceed to close the case.
Please feel free to contact us should you require further assistance in this regard. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
