African Bank: Audacity to ignore complaints
I have logged a compliant on 06 January 2025 relating to the arrears amount. A brief background, I called on 04 December 2024 to the collections department, requested the arrears amount on this account, I was advised that the amount is R***xx which was duly paid on the day through immediate debit. I asked the consultant if this will bring the account up to date and was advised yes and also that the relevant bureaus would be updated in 21 working days.
I again called in the 06 January 2025 as a follow up only to find out that the account still reflects arrears after which I logged a complaint on this. I have been following up with African bank since 20 January 2025 and all I get told is the matter is pending although it was said that it will take 7 working days for feedback. As at 28 January 2025 no feedback from the so called specialist dealing with the query. I was told that the specialist tried to call me on 16 January 2025 but I failed to answer, I must highlight that no call was received and my call history will evidence same. The credit bureaus (Transunion and Experian) still reflects arrears therefore no update done by African bank here too.
Since yesterday 27 January 2025 I am now getting calls from the collections department in relation to the arrears on this account which is now annoying as I have to continuously explain myself to different people several times a day. African bank fails to acknowledge that they *****ed up and wont fix the loan account to the correct state. Continuous failure to acknowledge and rectify the account will result in escalation to the banking ombudsman as well as the banks regulator( SARB).
