Account Handed Over in spite of monthly repayments

I have been paying this account for the past 6 months. My debit order went through on the 31 August. Yesterday I received a text message saying my account has been handed over and they did not receive payment and further legal action will,be taken if i don't pay. I want to know where has all my money been going to if the lawyers say i last paid in 2013. i want my money back and explanation of how my name ended being a handover. Either way you loose with African bank and their 38% interest.
