A Cry for Help!

I must say that I am a little bit dissapointed in how African Bank conducts business, they have been really good to me in terms of giving me credit, regrettably I was retrenched in 2022 and needed to make use of my Credit Life Insurance, which was subsequently cancelled in February or March 2023,

That said, I made payments, best I could, however my wife and I fell pregnant and had a extremely difficult pregnancy which resulted in many medical bills, on several occasions, I tried to make an arrangement only for African Bank to debit on days not authorised, sending my account into the red. This resulted in my accounts not being paid.

I have a Credit Card and Loan account with African bank, I have asked so many consultants if they could work with me and restructure my loan to clear the arrears, reduce the installment and let me pay consistently, given the amounts of the actual loan and credit card, it is impossible for me to pay both at almost R20K a month.

Please do not get me wrong, I openly admit that I owe African Bank money, I am not running away from my responsibility and acknowledge I do have arrears and outstanding amounts however am paying substantially more on the Credit Card to catch that up ASAP, however my issue is with the loan, where I cannot afford to make double payments, All I would like is for AB to reach out to me, restructure my loan and reduce the installment for the interim, clear the arrears, just so that I can find my feet again, I am NOT defaulting, I am merely asking for a bit of a breather here to help me out, inturn it results in the bank helping themselves, rather then having a defaulting client, you have a client for life.

For months this has gone unanswered, ignored and well just with threatining calls by them, which I understand, I get it, I owe you but what do I do if I cannot catchup two accounts simultaneously? I will and vouch to catch both up ASAP, but please for the love of all things good, lets work together in this relationship, please restructure the loan, this prevents defaulting, and gets the payments to you on a monthly basis, it also helps me rebuild my credit profile!

African Bank, I know I am wrong, I cannot help having been retrenched, and life happens, my unborn baby and wife medical expenses came first in a time of total uncer*****y where I did not have work, I admit, I prioritized life over debt, but you cannot say that I have not been commited to pay it if i have reached out to request a restructure only to be ignored,

A relationship works both ways, you granted me serious credit which helped me alot, I took that responsibility and am still fully commited to pay it, but again, with the arrears, I cannot catch it up, unless we meet each other half way.

My commitment to you is, that if you restructure my loan imminently, I will pay imminently R3000 toward it as a gesture of good will and promise to continue paying this amount until I am able to increase the capital on the account, my second promise to you is, that I am commited to pay R8500 each month on my credit card to pay the installment and the arrears.

Please African Bank, can we not come to an amicable solution here to prevent defaulting and total explosion of my credit score which was close to 800 before I was retrenched and close to 750 when you gave me credit?

Please, this is a cry for help, this is me asking you out of the bottom of my heart, lets work here, this isnt small money we are talking that I owe you, it is substantial. I WANT TO bank with you, I WANT to be your client, I WANT to do this amicably, at the end of the day, I can always just default, go to court with you, defend it and commit to pay R100 then, but this is not me, this is not the route I want to go, this is not about me wanting to get out of something I started and took out, this is just me asking for you to merely restructure my loan, clear the arrears and lets get this account up to date with consistent monthly payments and I can only do this with your assistance.

Best Regards, Glenn

Oh just to add, I cannot even access my APP any more, I have been completely blocked from the APP and internet banking as a whole.

Hey African Bank,

I tried calling, but it took me to the auto prompts, I'm not sure which prompt to make use of.

The reason you couldn't get hold of me was due to loadshedding and had no signal. If you're keen to call back I'm happy to assist now as I've got full signal again.

Look forward to hearing from you.

So having reached out and asking for help has proved to be futile once again with African Bank, the social media team put me through to collections only to be blatantly told once again that I cannot be assisted and a arrangement need be made.

I guess then there is no other option but for the bank to summons me as a defaulting client, of which I am VERY happy to defend in court, showing all my evidence, requests and cry out for assistance to no avail including the telephone recordings of me asking.

I will then thereafter commit to paying the bank R100 a month under the guidance of the court toward the loan going forward.

Amazing how a bank refuses to work with you as a client and how they just wish to tell you they can't assist. Interesting indeed. Oh well African Bank, I guess my cry for help was futile, let me know what you need to summons me and we get this ball rolling to court sooner rather than later.

Thanks for nothing African Bank. We will see each other when you summons me and I defend the same.

Thank you, I have not received any response in respect to the matter but be it as it may, it is what it is, and it is unfortunate that you are forcing me to have no other option but to default on the said loan payment, in turn affecting your own income, furthermore, I am happy to be summoned to court and defend the said matter in court,

Regrettably for the bank, the court will see that I have attempted everything in my power to work with you and exhausted all options only for the bank not wanting to work with me, that being said, I can categorically state and confirm based on my engagements with the bank that the court will absolutely most positively rule in my favor resulting in either the amount being written off completely, or the bank receiving a payment of R100 each month under a court order of which you cannot do anything about thereafter.

Note that I sit and have compiled a evidence pack already consisting of 32 emails, 56 telephone calls and now this Hello Peter post aswell showing my intent of wanting to work with the bank to no avail, that said, it will be exponentially difficult for the bank to prove any good faith and actions of working with me in a positive manner.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to meeting your team in the Pretoria North Magistrates court.

Kind Regards
Glenn
