100% interest on loans...Total *******

I Took out two loans with African Bank in 2010 One was for R20000 and the Other 9000 if I am not Mistaken, I am wanna pay off these amounts but I was told they had gone up to R46000 and 16000 this has doubled, and I have been trying to Speak to the Legal Department and No one can Help I was told that it' s interest how can the Interest double the Loan amount, I have 29000 available and wanna pay off both loans ASAP can some one call me back as even Rajesh In the legal department is not returning my calls.
