10 year debt is a prescribed debts

I have been sending numerous emails to African bank with no joy. I took a loan in 2012 and in in 2013 I was retreched all communications was sent to them however my emails were ignored and I am still receiving threats from African bank. I emailed their recovery department and they respond to say my account was closed on their side and that I must contact the bank directly. 1 this debt is over 9 years now ,is it not a prescribed debts ? If the recovery department confirmed that they have closed the account why am I still harrased by African bank? 2. What happened to my insurance that needed to cover me in this situation? 3. Why am I not getting any feedback from African bank? May I get feedback on this matter as I feel this bank is a **** !
