I had a terrible experience with Africa Boys

I specifically needed new fenders for my Renault GT Sport, and to avoid any confusion, I even provided them with my car’s VIN number so they could verify the correct parts. Despite this, they supp**** me with a GT-Line fender — which is for a completely different model.

When I contacted them to resolve the issue, the level of rudeness I was met with was honestly shocking. Instead of taking responsibility for supplying the wrong part (even after having my VIN for verification), they tried to shift the blame onto me.

To make matters worse, I paid R2500 including delivery. After a long back-and-forth, they finally agreed to take the part back — but I had to pay for the pickup and handling fee myself, even though the mistake was entirely theirs. In the end, I only received R1640 back.

So not only did they supply the wrong part, but I was left out of pocket for their error.

Be very careful when dealing with Africa Boys. Even if you provide all the correct information, they may still supply the wrong part — and then make it your fault. Very disappointing experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’d like to clarify a few important points to ensure the situation is accurately represented.

The fender supp**** was exactly the item selected and ordered by the customer via our website, including the specified side (right-hand). The part supp**** matches the order placed. After delivery, the customer advised that they had in fact required the left-hand fender, which is a different item.

While we do request VIN numbers to assist customers where compatibility is unclear, in this case the part was not selected by us but explicitly chosen and ordered by the customer. As such, the item was correctly supp**** according to the order.

Despite this, we agreed - purely as a goodwill gesture - to accept the return. Prior to arranging the return, the customer was clearly informed and acknowledged in writing via WhatsApp that:
  • Correctly supp**** items are subject to a 20% handling and restocking fee
  • Return courier costs would apply

This policy is standard in the automotive parts industry and is in line with the Consumer Protection Act for correctly supp**** goods.

The refund issued (R1,640) reflects:
  • The original purchase price
  • Less the agreed handling and restocking fee
  • Less the return courier cost

All communication was handled professionally, transparently, and with written confirmation before the return was processed.

We take customer service seriously and are always happy to assist, but we must also apply our policies consistently and fairly.
