Africa Parrots Dairy

Valentino Santiago Aariwah advertises Macaws and other birds online. She operates as Africa Parrots Dairy, she states that she can give you a free harness and that the bird comes with a small amount of formula and seeds it can eat. For this, including the courier fee, she charges R4700.

She stated the bird would need to be fed every 1 to 2 hours 24 hours a day until the age of 6 months, which is not accurate. at three months they only need formula three times during the day, not at night.

The bird would not be released to the courier until it was paid for. She had good reviews, so, like an idiot, I paid her.

I asked for spare formula as I live in the sticks and have to travel to Pretoria or Johannesburg to buy.

She immediately came back with a cost of R3000+ for 3 months formula to get the bird to 6 months. she then stated that we could absolutely NOT switch formula because the bird would die. I asked what she had in her formula, she came back with "it was her secret formula and she would definitely not share the formula recipe". She said to buy the recipe we have to pay R25000 - I said hell no!

The bird was shipped and we got a weigh-bill number for Global Animal Transporter.

We got a message from her the next morning to say the bird had arrived in JHB and would be with us before 10 AM.

An hour and a half later she messaged to say the courier was waiting for a CITES registration that had to happen in the province the bird is in before it could be released.

Registration had to be paid in cash - R4500 - to her via EWallet, she would register the bird and email the registration form to me. She said when the courier arrived he would give us 95% of this back in cash on delivery. I called bull****!

I called the courier, he said she was right. I called bull**** again and started phoning, starting with CITES themselves.

They and 8 top breeders stated Macaws do not need to be registered!!
