House break in - claim declined - I'd like to advise anyone NOT to consider this insurance company

I woke up with 2 strangers in my bedroom in my house, demanding cash and a safe with guns. They took all they could find including my vehicle which was recovered the same day.

The vehicle however, had a crack in the windscreen, the tray in the boot was gone and the engine makes a noise. After the assessor saw it, I had to pay an excess of R4000 for the theft and an extra R3000 because the incident took place between 8pm and 5am.

I disputed the extra charge as the theft was out of my control and I got this from the claims department:

" As per management I need to send you the transcript of the underwriting that they did with you the day you took the insurance, you can call Affinity ********** to listen to the sales call.."

I read script which said : " Please note that additional excesses are over and above your basic excess and could be applicable depending on the different circumstances " .

This is thievery at its best - from honest people!!

The vehicle was at the panel beaters for 30 days and I got it back with the crack in the windscreen, no tray in the boot and the same noise in the engine. I enquired at the panel beaters and they said :

"The windscreen and parcel tray was declined by the assessing company, stating that it is not incident related."

I want my money back!
