Car Insurance companies not easy with REFUND

Bad experience with Affinity on initial joining was sent a link to make a payment I did so not knowing that will simultaneously get debited an even more astronomical amount R1600 ref given was LIFE etc I managed to reverse that particular debit but to get refunded for payment is a problem. When you call the cancellation line ones call is never attended until it goes mute/paused to me its a tacit refusal to cancel policy a delaying tactic so they can claim that you have been cover for a month. I attempted to cancel the policy the very week I took it as it was recommended by the company I purchased a vehicle with but after that shock double debit I soon realized I was better off with the insurance company I had for my other vehicle.
