Unfair and *********

I was rushed to the emergency of Netcare Parklands Hospital. Affinity authorised the admission. The doctor on duty examined me and requested that I get examined by a specialist doctor. The next day I was examined and was sent for a Sonar. After the Sonar I was prepped for an emergency operation. After the operation I was in ICU for two days. It was an unfortunate, sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific incident which occurs unexpectedly and unintentionally.

When I received the statement I fell of my chair. I got four bill. 1. Parklands Netcare. 2. Specialist doctor. 3. Assistant surgeon. 4. Physiotherapy. Total of about R 90 000.00. All the bills had ICD-10 authorisation codes that Affinity approved. Affinity only contoured R 22 500.00 and the balance for my account. I nor my next of kin were given an option to do the procedure at another medical institution where I could have afforded the procedure. Affinity Health do not know my financial status and just approved everything. No I am sitting with a huge bill and Affinity Health is just pulling up their shoulders. I have issued a complained to the Council for Medical Schemes ombudsman.
