Thanks for NOTHING and wasting our time and money

<p>After almost three years of being on Affinity Health's hospital plan, the very first time we have needed to make a claim on it we have been turned down and away due to some "Fine Print"</p> <p>My wife injured her leg playing with the kids in the yard.</p> <p>She pulled the calve muscle.</p> <p>She saw a physio about it and the leg was on the mend.</p> <p>Then a few months later she steped wrong and the knee of the same leg gave out.</p> <p>She saw the physio again and was told that the knee had gotten injured due to compensating for the calve muscle.</p> <p>She saw the physio, that we paid for.</p> <p>Then a Chiro, that we paid for, who suggested she see a specialist</p> <p>She saw the specialist, who we paid for again and who said she would need surgery to fix the knee.</p> <p>Only to be turned down by Affinity becasue...... get this....</p> <p>She didnt report the injury when it first happened....</p> <p>W.... T...... F???</p> <p>So please people....</p> <p>If you are on Affinity Helath and you happen to kick your toe in the garage, or cut your finger making dinner, please report EVERY injury, irrespective of how irrelevant so that, heaven forbid something comes of that injury</p> <p> </p> <p>I would also like to that the staff of Affinity for being the most incompetant lot I have ever come across.</p> <p>Typical south african big business mentallity....</p> <p>Its not my job.......</p> <p> </p> <p>Thanks of r nothing!</p>

Good day Andre

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.

Please note that our general exclusions and limitations are clearly stipulated in the policy documentation that was couriered to the main member of the policy.

It is stipulated in the aforementioned document, that written notification is required to be submitted to our offices within 3 months of any occurrence / incident of which may give rise to a claim under this Insurance, failing which the claim will not be entertained.

Kindly be advised that the policy which is noted as a Hospital plan does not cater for Day to Day medical assistance benefits such as Physiothe******s and Chiropractors of which are considered as Specialist visits and therefore does not fall under the Scope of benefits of the selected plan.

For any further clarity regarding this matter, we request that you contact our offices directly.

Kind regards

Affinity Health Management Team.

Good day Affinity Health Team

The injury my wife sustained was in May of this year

According to your policy wording, she is still within the three months notice period

We paid for her to see the people she did as we know it is only a hospital plan.

But now that she needs to go to hospital for it, you lot are finding excuses

Also

As far as contacting your call center, I have contacted and spoken to several individuals now, but they have no gotten back to me or my wife as they said they would.

Please folks as I have said...

Please report any injury, irrespective of how irrelevant it is, so that you do not get dropped by your service provider as we have.

We unfortunately were never blessed with the gift of seeing into the future as Affinity can, and would never have guessed that 7 months after pulling a calve muscle, that one could tear an ACL off because of it. I unfortunately am not a doctor or a physiothe******. And not even the ones we did see never mentioned or guessed that this could happen, or at least they never told us.

So why choose Affinity health?

According to them….

Having to go through any hospitalisation, whether for yourself or your family, is very traumatic and confusing. There are so many forms to fill in, telephone calls to make, hours spent waiting in queues and then of course all the people poking and prodding you or your loved one! This is why you need Affinity Hospital Plan offering Quality Medical cover. AT AFFINITY HEALTH WE KEEP THINGS SIMPLE. We know that everyone’s medical and healthcare needs are different, and that having the support of a trusted healthcare organisation is vital during any medical procedure.*

And….

Nothing is more important than the health of you and your loved ones.

An affordable Hospital Plan & Hospital Cover from Affinity Health ensures your health care needs are taken care of**

(* & ** extracts from Affinity Health Website - https://www.affinityhealth.co.za/ )

Our experience has shown, and that of a few other on this site, that Affinity ensures your health care as long as they don’t have a loop hole to throw it out with and save their bottom line come the end of the financial year. And as far as keeping it simple, this has been one of the worst experiences we have had with a medical service provider, as it resulted in exactly what they start their statement with, queues, forms, telephone calls and hours waiting for answers.

And yes it was a very traumatic experience for my wife

Affinity had the opportunity to help, the opportunity to improve a person’s quality of life. I know we are just a number to a corporate company as Affinity, as we would be to any of the medical service providers. It is just sad that at the end of the day that is all anyone ever will be, a number bringing in the money.

And as for your personnel. Please do teach them some manners and professional etiquette for talking to their clients over the phone. As their conduct and professionalism was left wanting when dealing with my wife

Again…. Thanks for nothing.
